Learn More About the Palliative Care Quality Collaborative

Participation in the Palliative Care Quality Collaborative (PCQC) is on the organization or palliative care program level. If you are a patient or caregiver who wants to know more about palliative care, we would encourage you to visit the Get Palliative Care website

PCQC is a 501(c)3 organization, led by a board of directors, that houses a unified national palliative care data registry system, which captures both program and patient-level quality data.

With support from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Cambia Health Foundation, the National Palliative Care Registry, the Palliative Care Quality Network (PCQN), and the Global Palliative Care Quality Alliance (GPCQA) has combined into one unified national registry system under the PCQC. This opportunity incorporated the best practices of each system. PCQC aims to improve comparison reports, align with national standards, inform research and quality improvement, and explore EHR integration.

Prior PCQN, GPCQA, and National Palliative Care Registry™ members can anticipate similar functionality and quality of services as the previous registry systems. The PCQC is:

  • working to minimize interruptions in your service during the transition,
  • providing pricing structure that offers both free program-level services (similar to the current offerings in the National Palliative Care Registry™) and paid patient-level services (similar to the current offerings in GPCQA and PCQN) to meet the needs of the field
  • incorporating your feedback to provide a strong registry
  • maintaining some continuity to the previous registry systems’ data elements while identifying best practices for each data element.

PCQC was created through a partnership between the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC), the National Palliative Care Research Center (NPCRC), the Palliative Care Quality Network (PCQN), the Global Palliative Care Quality Alliance (GPCQA), and Four Seasons with generous funding provided by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Cambia Health Foundation.

For any grants awarded by PCQC, indirects are capped at 12% of total direct costs.
